The first thing you will need to do is dig around the sprinkler. Use a shovel and be careful to dig around it. An important tip is to not jump on the head of the shovel like you might normally do in order to dig deep. Instead, you want to do this slowly and carefully. You can then pry up the ground to expose the sprinkler. Now you will be able to get at the sprinkler head itself. You’ll be able to unscrew it or do whatever else you need in order to repair it. Be sure to flush the system out once you’ve made your repair, otherwise, you could end up with dirt inside of it.
